What Terminal 2 is for
The busiest terminal for domestic flights, split into two halves: 2M for domestic and 2S for international. Most flights within Mexico and most Latin American carriers use it.

Updated 2026/09. Carriers do move between terminals, so treat this as the planning answer and your boarding pass as the answer on the day.

InterjetCeased operations · December 2020Suspended all flights in December 2020 after a long financial crisis and was formally declared bankrupt by a Mexican court in September 2022. It never returned.
Its domestic routes are now covered by Volaris, Viva Aerobus and Aeroméxico.
-
AeromarCeased operations · February 2023Announced the definitive end of operations on 15 February 2023, after losses it could not cover and with no new investor.

Mexicana de AviaciónFlying again, but not to Cancun · December 2023
The original Mexicana stopped flying in 2010. A new state-owned airline under the same name began commercial operations on 26 December 2023.
Its inaugural flight went to Tulum, not Cancun, and Cancun is not among the destinations it serves. It did not appear once in the 1,487 flights we counted, nor in the live board. If you are looking for a Mexicana flight into this region, the airport it serves is Tulum.
Arriving into Terminal 2
The order is the same in every terminal, and knowing it stops the wait feeling open-ended.
Landing to the doors: 35–100 minutes in total.
Landing to walking out: 35–50 minutes on a quiet day, 70–100 in peak season. That gap is why meeting someone at the landing time means an hour in the hall.
Getting out from here
All four ways out serve every operating terminal: the official taxi counter is inside the arrivals area, the ADO bus stops right outside, car rental desks are on site, and pre-booked transfers meet you past the exit doors.
