Booking ahead costs less. Landing without one is not a problem. Prices at the airport counters are set on the day and quoted per car; a transfer booked in advance is a fixed figure you already know. The difference on a family of four to the Hotel Zone is routinely more than the price of the transfer itself. And if you are already here, book from the terminal: it is resolved in under twenty minutes.

The people who approach you first are not your driver. Between customs and the exit there is a stretch of desks offering transport and timeshare presentations. Your driver stands still and holds a sign; they do not walk up to you and ask where you are going.
Children, seats and awkward luggage
Four things that have to be said at the moment of booking, because afterwards there is no way to add them.
- Child seats have to be requested when booking, at no extra cost. They are not automatically in the vehicle.
- Wheelchair-accessible vehicles exist but are limited — request one well in advance, not the day before.
- Outsize luggage (golf clubs, dive gear, a surfboard) needs declaring at booking, so the vehicle assigned actually fits it.
- Extra stops — a supermarket run on the way to the hotel — are added when booking, not asked for in the car.

Common questions
Is Uber available at Cancun airport?
Not for pickups you can rely on. Mexico's transport ministry (SICT) stated in a statement of 30 October 2025 that app companies hold no authorisation to collect passengers at the country's airports; the court protection Uber obtained covers how checks are carried out, not a permit. In March 2026 Cancun airport ruled out opening space to the platforms. Being dropped off at the terminal is a different matter and is done routinely. How much is transport from Cancun airport to the Hotel Zone?
A private transfer starts at $35 USD for the whole vehicle, up to 8 passengers, one way. An airport taxi bought at the counter runs from about $65 to $120 USD depending on where along the Hotel Zone you are staying. The ADO bus is about $18 USD per person but stops at the downtown bus station, not at hotels.
How long does it take to get from the airport to my hotel?
About 20 to 30 minutes to the Hotel Zone, 50 to 60 to Playa del Carmen, and around an hour and three quarters to Tulum. Traffic on Kukulcan Boulevard on a Saturday afternoon is the main thing that moves those numbers.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We follow the flight number you gave when booking and adjust the pickup. That is what the flight number is for; without it, a two-hour delay means the driver has left.
Do I pay in dollars or pesos?
Transfers are priced and charged in US dollars when booked online. At the airport counters you can pay either, but the counter sets its own exchange rate, so paying in pesos is normally cheaper there.
Can I book a transfer for my return to the airport too?
