The luxury tier at Cancun airport is a full-size SUV — a Chevrolet Suburban or equivalent — instead of a passenger van. Five seats instead of eight, leather, and noticeably more room. Everything else about the service is identical: the driver still tracks your flight, still waits at the exit with your name, and the price is still agreed before you fly.
Worth saying plainly: on a twenty-minute run to the Hotel Zone the difference is comfort and little else. Where it earns its money is on the long ones — Tulum is close to two hours, Playa del Carmen an hour, and that is long enough for the seat to matter.

Where the driver actually meets you
Not at the kerb and not in the baggage hall: past customs, in the public arrivals area, holding a sign with your name. The exact spot depends on which terminal you land in.

The people who approach you first are not your driver. Between customs and the exit there is a stretch of desks offering transport and timeshare presentations. Your driver stands still and holds a sign; they do not walk up to you and ask where you are going.
Children, seats and awkward luggage
Four things that have to be said at the moment of booking, because afterwards there is no way to add them.
- Child seats have to be requested when booking, at no extra cost. They are not automatically in the vehicle.
- Wheelchair-accessible vehicles exist but are limited — request one well in advance, not the day before.
- Outsize luggage (golf clubs, dive gear, a surfboard) needs declaring at booking, so the vehicle assigned actually fits it.
- Extra stops — a supermarket run on the way to the hotel — are added when booking, not asked for in the car.
