Departure board with four new routes to Cancun: Halifax 18 Dec 2026, Tampa 19 Dec 2026, Pittsburgh 7 Jan 2027, Richmond 8 Jan 2027

What starts, and when

Two airlines add four nonstop routes to Cancun between 18 December 2026 and 8 January 2027. Porter brings Halifax; Breeze brings Tampa, Pittsburgh and Richmond. None of the 786 flights on the airport's board between 4 and 6 October came from Halifax, Pittsburgh or Richmond, and Tampa had one a day, with JetBlue — so every one of these is either a city with no nonstop on the board today or a second airline on the route.

Porter also doubles two routes it already flies: Hamilton goes from 3 to 6 flights a week from 17 December 2026, and Ottawa from 5 to 10 a week for the 2026–27 winter season.

Breeze's A220-300 carries 137 seats, 12 of them in its larger Ascent seats at the front. A schedule loaded this far ahead can still move: treat the dates as the plan and your airline's confirmation as the answer.

Which terminal

Porter arrives at Terminal 4. Every one of Porter's last 27 flights into Cancun used it, with no split. Terminal 4 handles 22.7% of everything that moves through Cancun, and it is where most of the Canadian leisure flying lands.

Breeze is too new here to call. The two Breeze flights we have counted so far both used Terminal 4, and JetBlue's Tampa flight uses it too, but two flights is not enough to publish a terminal. We will once the routes are operating. The terminal printed on your boarding pass on the day always wins over any list, including ours.

Tampa lands before the morning wave

Breeze's Tampa flight leaves at 07:00 and lands in Cancun at 08:55. That timing is worth more than it looks. Of the 408 arrivals on the board from 4 to 6 October, only one was scheduled in the 08:00 hour; the 09:00 hour had 25, the 10:00 hour 48 and the 14:00 hour 54. Landing at 08:55 puts you in the halls just ahead of the day's first wave.

The return leaves Cancun at 09:55. For an international departure, plan on being at the terminal about three hours ahead, which means leaving a Hotel Zone hotel shortly after 06:00 and a Playa del Carmen hotel before 05:30.

From the terminal to your hotel

The Hotel Zone is 25 to 60 minutes from the terminal depending on where your hotel sits along the strip, and it takes longer towards Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Book the transfer for a while after the landing time, not for the landing time itself: immigration, baggage and customs all sit between the aircraft door and the curb, and in mid-December that stretch is at its fullest.
