Overview
Muyil, an ancient Maya site, is located in the northern part of the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve. This millennium-old trade station, located on the outskirts of the freshwater lagoon systems and tropical forest, is the ideal spot to learn about Mayan history and environment.
On our day together, we will hike through this inspiring eco-reserve to the highest point in the Sian Kaan reserve, where we'll be able to stare out upon untouched rainforest teeming with hundreds of birds, plant, and animal life forms. Following our climb, we will take a boat trip through the old Maya trading canals and visit the Xlapak Maya temple. Here, at the bottom of the river valley, you may see the intricate facades of these ancient remains. They are so well maintained that you can plainly identify the figures.
The cleanest of water entices us on an extraordinary 'lazy river' trip, where we float in a totally unique environment, surrounded by the sounds of nature, orchids and bromeliads, with just the songbirds and the breeze delicately whispering through the reeds. A relaxing sensation unlike anything you've ever had.
