Ways in
- Pay at the door The simplest route, and available at every lounge here. No membership, no status, no airline requirement.
- A lounge programme Priority Pass, DragonPass, LoungeKey, Diners Club each cover at least one lounge per terminal.
- A premium credit card American Express Platinum holders have the widest access here. Check what your card actually includes before you rely on it.
- Your airline ticket Business and first-class passengers, and top-tier frequent flyers, usually have access to their airline's partner lounge.
When it is worth paying
A day pass here costs about what two airport meals and a couple of drinks cost, so the arithmetic is closer than it looks.
Worth it
A long connection, a delayed flight, travelling with children who need somewhere
to sit still, or an early start with no breakfast behind you.
Not worth it
Under ninety minutes before boarding. Between security, walking to the lounge
and getting to the gate, you would barely sit down.
Peak season
Lounges fill up too. In December and Easter, entry can be refused when a lounge
is at capacity, pass or no pass.
The honest sum
Two sandwiches, two coffees and two beers airside come close to the price of a
pass that includes all of it.
What you get
Lounges here are comfortable rather than luxurious. Broadly you can expect seating away from the gate crowds, food and drink included, working Wi-Fi, power at most seats and proper bathrooms. What varies most between them is space and how busy they get.
Showers, quiet rooms and full bars are not universal. If one of those is the reason you are paying, ask at the door before you do.
